What the World Needs Now is Peace. Don’t Let Hate Win !!

world peace

As i sit down to write this post, the world is becoming a dangerous place. It’s slowly being consumed by hate, prejudice, stereotypes and most of all religious fundamentalism. A week ago there was a siege in a Sydney cafe. The world was appalled by the incident. Seventeen people were taken hostage and three were killed including the hostage-taker – Man Haron Monis, a fifty year old man born in Iran and settled in Australia. The Prime Minister of Australia -Tony Abbott has described Monis as “a deeply disturbed individual with a long history of crime, a long history of mental instability and infatuation with extremism.” The man has over forty cases concerning  sexual and assault related offences and a history of religiously motivated activism. During the siege , Monis displayed an Islamic flag.

The world stood in solidarity with Sydney. The best thing that happened was the hashtag that trended globally on  Twitter – #illRideWithYou. The motive and the feeling behind the hashtag was to support those individuals of the Muslim community who could have got cornered and who could have been possible targets of retaliatory attacks, just because one man (Haron Monis) was crazy enough to be so extreme that he landed up being responsible for a siege and killed innocent citizens. Australia set an example for the world to follow. It didn’t work up into an Islamophobic rage because of the actions of a single maniac. I’d like to share here how the hashtag started because it’s heart warming.

It started with a tweet from @sirtessa, a TV content editor and writer from Sydney whose real name is Tessa Kum. Tessa Kum told BuzzFeed News that “her heart broke” after reading a story tweeted by Rachael Jacobs as news of the hostage siege broke.Rachael Jacobs, on Facebook had posted a status in which she mentioned seeing a woman, she presumed was Muslim silently removing her hijab while sitting next to her on the train: “I ran after her at the train station. I said ‘put it back on. I’ll walk with u. She started to cry and hugged me for about a minute – then walked off alone’. This  little encounter of  Rachael Jacobs with a woman in religious attire inspired this Twitter user, @sirtessa, and she tweeted – “If you reg take the #373 bus b/w Coogee/MartinPl, wear religious attire, & don’t feel safe alone: I’ll ride with you. @ me for schedule.”  Moments later she tweeted again “Maybe start a hashtag? What’s in #illridewithyou?”  And that’s how it began 🙂

Some of the tweets under the hashtag were plain beautiful:

“I was going to drive to work tomorrow but seeing the outpouring of support changed my mind. #illridewithyou Thank you. See you on the train!”

“Anybody concerned for their safety going to work in Brisbane tomorrow morning from the Northside, #illridewithyou”

“illridewithyou because together the journey is more fun. That, friends, is our victory: one haters will never know.”

“i’m muslim and verry happy to see that people in austrilia know that a group of jihadist don’t represent all the religion #illridewithyou.”

Isn’t this a wonderful response from Sydney?? It just touches your heart and you feel that yes even in a world full of hate , there is goodness and people stand with and for each other above religion, colour, caste everything. At times like these, all we need is to be human. That’s all. The world should learn from Sydney because i can vouch for the fact that had this same incident happened elsewhere, including the top nations of the world, there would surely have been communal attacks and innocent people would have been targeted.

After the world stood in solidarity with Sydney, Peshawar in Pakistan witnessed one of the most brutal acts of violence. This time the victims were school going children. One hundred and forty one deaths in a just a few minutes. Out of these one hundred and thirty were children. I will not call it death , i will call it a massacre. The Taliban gunmen just stormed in classrooms and shot children randomly. They shot them in their heads point blanc. I am flabbergasted at the psyche of such inhuman brutes. Do they not think at all? Are they so weak to be brainwashed into killing innocents. What kind of a Jihad are they fighting for? They didn’t just kill children, they killed aspirations , dreams and hopes of a hundred families. They killed the future of a nation that just doesn’t learn and because of which every Muslim in the world gets ‘generalized’ as being a filthy human being.

I am an Indian. My country shares its border with Pakistan. Their internal disturbances affect us too. It affected us this time as well and we feel sorry for the people who are born in a country which in my view is a failed state with an absolutely weak establishment. We didn’t start a #illRideWithYou hashtag but we did start #IndiawithPak which has exactly the same intent as the hashtag from Sydney did. I feel proud as an Indian that majority of the people from my nation stood in solidarity with the families of the innocent kids that got massacred. I feel proud that even the most extreme right wing proponents showed their support . I’m proud that our Prime Minister spread the word for observing a two minute silence across schools in India today and the schools observed it. After all each and every innocent life across the planet is precious and terrorism in any form is to be condemned.

However what i am not proud of is the fact that when we as a nation stood in solidarity with our neighbouring nation, people like Hafiz Saeed from Pakistan were planning terror attacks on some of the major cities in India. Hafiz Saeed is the mastermind behind the terror attacks on the Indian Parliament. Pakistan , instead of nailing this marauder acquitted him of all the charges. He now lives in Pakistan as a free citizen. Not just this, underworld dons like Dawood Ibrahim live freely in Pakistan. Every limit was crossed today by Pakistan when just twenty four hours after the brutal carnage, a man known by the name of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi was released on bail for ,”lack of evidence.” Can you beat this.? Hypocrisy anyone? Yesterday their Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken a vow to combat terrorism and wipe out every single terrorist out of the country. Is this how the establishment plans to combat terror ? Lakhvi was one of the main accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks where we lost so many of our innocent people, our loved ones, our dear ones. And we haven’t yet healed. We really haven’t.

There are also spineless assholes ( i will not abstain from using such language because they deserve it) like Pervez Musharaf who publicly issued a statement slamming India and blaming us for the incident (God knows how) . He said,“Pakistan will harness these incidents to fuel old mythologies of hatred and provoke even greater violence against India and Afganistan.” I am flustered at the man’s audacity blaming a nation which has right from the outset preached for peace and that too for the entire region. We lose soldiers on our borders, we lose friends in terrorist attacks, we even get threats all the time. Yet we stood in solidarity for the families of the innocent children because we feel the pain and instead of appreciating this gesture, some madmen from Pakistan end up blaming us ? For what ? If only Pakistan had been more careful with their internal security, their country would be much better than what it is now. Today if Pakistan removes their security forces from their borders and use them for internal security, they still have nothing to worry about. I’m saying this with such surety because India will neither encroach their land nor violate the ceasefire. This is my beloved country that their establishment so easily blames. It’s upsetting.

Having said all this, i’d also like to point out that on Twitter there were so many people from Pakistan who not only appreciated India’s support but also held their establishment responsible for the violence and brutality of their nation. I’d like to share a few tweets here:

: “ was an important moment of solidarity. So should be.”

:“No Murderer should ever be given Bail to roam on Streets Hang Them All! It’s time we stood up against Terrorists .”

“Thank you for hashtag. We are together in this. It’s about humanity.”

:”Thanks from Pakistan for .”

: “Dear India, BE ASSURED THAT PAKISTANIS LIKE ME WIL STAND WITH YOU. We Want Peace. .”

Hence there are people on both sides of the border who want peace everywhere and who appreciate what we do for them. I feel terrible for people who get ‘generalized’ because they happen to be a part of a particular nation or religion. I am sure just like me there will be women of of my age, my caliber and my dreams that are born in Pakistan. I am sure there are men who live in fear every passing day and who want to lead normal lives. I am sure that there will be people who are as fed up of the atrocity as we are. That is why how can one possibly ‘generalize.’ I am a woman and i hear all the time women being raped by men. But that doesn’t make every man a rapist. Likewise just because a few extremists and politicians of a country are spouting hate not just against India but anything progressive , doesn’t make an entire population culpable.

On twitter, i had a little debate today with a dear friend of mine. He too stood in solidarity for what happened with the children yesterday but was extremely aggravated by the bail of Lakhvi today. His point was that how can we as a nation stand up for Pakistan when they acquit people like Saeed & Lakhvi and they are completely hypocritical when it comes to terrorism. Now he’s right on this. He surely is. However my point was that even in a nation like Pakistan there definitely are people like my friend and me who are innocent so we have got to stand for them. How can we possibly hate them because it’s not their fault. His rebuttal was that the people are responsible because they are the ones who have chosen an establishment like this, Pakistan being a democracy. My counter was that people had to choose them because they had no other choice. Now both my friend and me are on the same page as far as our stand on terrorism is concerned. However he feels ( and he has every right to) that people in general in Pakistan are responsible for what happens to them while i say that they are not because it’s easier said than done. Taking a stand against the establishment is not easy , that too in a nation like Pakistan. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t. Ofcourse they should but it’s hard .It is. Either people will have to enter politics or get united (which i highly doubt by the way) and then pave a way for reforms. Pakistan needs a second freedom struggle. This time to counter the enemy within.

As a woman i feel very strongly on issues around and i speak up. I was just wondering if instead of India i was born in Pakistan with exactly the same attributes, would i be allowed to take a stand? The kind of person i am, i would have actually and i’m definite the fundamentalists would have shot me down in cold blood. Forget about taking a stand, i don’t think they would have allowed me to write a blog against the establishment that i can so freely do in India. That is why i said it’s easier said than done. I might believe and shout all my life that i want to combat terror but when my own family members will be taken hostage and i’d be warned to not believe what i’m doing, i’ll have to take a step back. Actually this holds true for every one not just me. We might be the strongest of people ,wanting to get rid of terror but we can’t when it comes to the people we love. A young girl of 15 – Malala Yousafzai gets shot in her forehead, takes a stand and becomes the youngest recipient at 17. to win  a Nobel prize, that too for peace. This is an individual taking a stand. But she was forced to leave Swat Valley , the place where she belongs and now wants to fight terrorism from UK .I commend her courage but it’s sad that her country cannot accommodate her because she happens to be in a minority. Minority of individuals who need peace, who need education and who just like us want to progress.

This is the problem with Pakistan. It just doesn’t protect individuals who want to make their country a better place. It’s a country where the extremists don’t even want to allow kids to be educated. They are retrogressive. Fear is the strongest weapon that a terrorist uses against innocent citizens. So if individuals from Pakistan don’t take a stand , it’s not because they don’t want to. They are instilled with fear that they just can’t. But now is the time. Someone will have to initiate it and that too from the masses. I mean a country of 182.1 million with a handful of dolt politicians and extremists can be handled but that one initiation is required. Even though I know that this reform (if it happens) will lead to the loss of thousands of lives, it will have to be done someday and I hope that ‘someday’ arrives soon.

I read a quote once according to which – we end up being ruled by inferior people just because we are too weak to take a stand. Holds true. Pakistan needs to put their arrogance aside, stop blaming India for the mess they’ve created and saved their ‘innocent’ citizens a lot of trouble by not letting them being ‘generalized.’ Even if today, Pakistan supports India in its fight against terror, it will be a better country in a lot of aspects. I tweeted yesterday that,” Hillary Clinton had once said, “You can’t keep snakes in your backyard & think they’ll bite only your neighbors. Pakistan is a failed state.” This is what Pakistan needs to introspect about. They need to stop harboring terrorists, else their country will become a living hell. My friend tweeted – “Selective approach against Terrorism will cost Pakistan dearly..how can a nation be so double speaking..“. This says it all. High time. Live in peace, let your innocent citizens live in peace and let us live in peace.

This is my last post for 2014. I’d like to see 2015 bring in more love, more compassion, more peace to the world. I’d like to see more unity, more oneness, keeping our prejudices aside. I really want our globalized village to be a much better place to live in. Wishing you all an extremely happy New Year. See you in 2015 with a greater zeal for every cause I strongly feel about. For now, I’d like to conclude by saying

DON’T FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER, FIGHT THE COMMON ENEMY, FIGHT HATE !!

  1. A thought provoking article.very well put in perspective. enjoyed reading it. need of the hour …people must realise before its too late..

  2. Beautifully written. Conveys so very well what a lot of us feel. Thank you for both writing & sharing

  3. I really enjoyed the read.
You are right that the individual victims of religious fear, hatred and stereotyping and entirely unjust and are blemishes on humanity. I will always support human solidarity and friendship.
But it is a fine line, because religious ideas can pose a very real threat, and that does need addressing.

  4. This was a really nice write up.
Extremism (is the most dangerous of the modern day problems (which is really sad and ironic) We can fight the problem together.. by standing up for each other instead of crucifying the minorities as we learnt from the hash tags.
Excellent work akriti for writing on such a pertinent issue. Well done! 🙂

  5. An excellent read Akriti…If more ppl thought like this the world would be a much better place to be in.
.”Selective” approach to terrorism is something which we all need to ponder over….it’s the need of the hour.

  6. Brilliantly written with a powerful message of peace. We need more Akritis and Malalas in this world and less religious nuts!

  7. its the high time for all of us to take it seriously And think over ….where are we all going to???…very well said Akriti..GOD BLESS !!

  8. Akriti, this was so well written and documented. I am so thankful for the solidarity I see among your peple and those in Sydney. I live in the U.S. and here it feels like we’re goinig backwards into the racially divided cruelty of our country prior to the reforms that began in the 70;s. Hatred is a terrible thing. But we are blaming people instead of the forces evil people listen to or invite into their hearts. Many “fundamentalists” claim to be murdering in the name of Allah or God or Jesus. They are not. They are working for the god of this world whose name is Satan, Lucifer, the serpent, the deceiver. Jesus came to save our souls and deliver us from deception. He came to “give us life, and give it more abundantly.” The Bible teaches that God is love, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we walk in His light, we will be His light to the world. But our enemy, Satan, knows his time is short and he is stepping up his game plan to destroy as many people as he can. For more information on True Christianity, visit me at thekingskidchronicles.wordpress.com. I don’t hate anyone except Satan. People are just confused, deceived, unwitting pawns doing his bidding.

    • I like the part of your comment where you mention that people are, ” just confused, deceived, unwitting pawns.” Some of them really are.

Thanks for stopping by. Not a huge fan of religion but i’ll visit your blog for sure:)

  9. Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented: In the 1980s there was a similar feeling of shame within the Irish community living in the UK as the IRA bombs devastated the capital. The actions of a few should never cause shame in the majority… I remember friends ashamed to give their names in shops and to people they met….the tweet #I’llridewithyou – should become an international slogan. Well done AKriti – keep it coming.

    • Yes it really should because it says a lot. I’m glad we still have people in this world who can support cornered communities when the need be. Thanks for reblogging 🙂

    • I’m not a big fan of religion either. What most folks don’t seem to understand is that Christianity is not a religion: it’s a relationshipp with our Creator. But I don’t believe in being pushy. God leaves the decision up to us to decide whether or not we want His love, compassion, forgiveness, and understanding. He really is a Father to those who choose to accept Him.

  10. Reblogged this on Revolution and commented:
Its little lengthy but really interesting…..
we all need to understand this, what we need is peace and only peace. love all the people around you and you will find that world is a beautiful place to live. Isn’t it?

    • Yes it is but the issue is that being an objective, secular person in this world, even in this country makes you public enemy number one. People just don’t rise up beyond stereotypes. Makes me feel suffocated at times. But i’ll rather be alone than be part of a crowd that is replete with hate and prejudice.

      Thanks for reblogging.

  11. This is an impeccable piece of writing, Mattu! So fresh, thought-provoking, and enlightening. All we need is a few open, receptive minds on both sides of the border! You keep up the good work! :))))

  12. Reblogged this on The BUTHIDARS and commented:
Though I won’t join in the criticism of Pakistan’s record on terrorism or India’s record on rapists and it’s general treatment of women. I will go all out on the support India gave to Pakistan after the atrocities this week and in my appreciation of the desire for peace of so many over there. There’s still hope for the world and I’m not giving up.
    The Hugs go on!

    • I’m not giving up either, hence the post.

As for criticism of Pakistan, we’re not the only ones doing it. The world does and should since theirs is an absolutely weak establishment and they openly harbour terrorists. Now i’m not saying that India is a perfect nation .However ours is a much better democracy than our neighbour. As for rapes yes i agree women safety is a huge issue but it is being addressed. Rapes and in a very gruesome way happen in Pakistan too. At least when women are assaulted in India, the whole country stands up and in various ways. Had Malala been born in India, she would never have been shot for wanting to get an education for herself. Pakistan is a nation which recently celebrated “I’m NOT with Malala Day” even though the girl just won a Nobel Prize for peace. People in Pakistan get away with executions of women because of weak laws, contradictory legislation, extra-judicial tribal court systems which reserve the harshest punishments for women exercising their free will. This is the issue with Pakistan.

However my post was not about women’s issue or criticizing a nation. It was about criticizing a mentality which breeds hate and a hoping to live in not a perfect but a somewhat reasonable world.

But thanks for reading it sincerely and reblogging it.

      • Just to be clear. I wasn’t saying I was happy with the way Pakistan says one thing and does another. or openly harbours terrorists. I just didn’t want to join in cristicism as that isn’t what my blog is about and I wanted your post on there for so many reasons without inviting war, since religion and politics are things the Buthidars doesn’t have so there can’t be divisive issues getting in the way of peace.

        xxx Massive Hugs xxx

  13. The work done by you is simply excellent and imperative. The peace and harmony should be indispensable within every soul on this earth.
The usage of words and vocabulary is eloquent, simply captivates the reader. Let peace spread.

  14. May this world remain peaceful forever and may it attain peace in through the most viable approach. People are really confused between what is right and wrong. Morality has become secondary and at times it does not come into consideration.

  15. yes, if we could just learn to live in love and tolerance… (as a human race) there would be no place for terrorists.

  16. What the world needs now is peace. And by dwelling on peace instead of violence and hatred, we can each do our part to usher peace into this world.

Forgiveness is the most powerful thing that you can do for your physiology and your spirituality. Yet, it remains one of the least attractive things to us, largely because our egos rule so unequivocally.

To forgive is somehow associated with saying that it is all right, that we accept the evil deed. But this is not forgiveness. Forgiveness means that you fill yourself with love and you radiate that love outward and refuse to hang onto the venom or hatred that was engendered by the behaviors that caused the wounds.

  17. It is true that being born in this country we are a fortunate lot. Recently I had an argument with a person who felt that India & RAW planned Peshawar. I ended our discussion with the point that I would love to embrace him the moment he realises the truth & he wished me the same. What I realised out of this is that everyone has their own sense of right & wrong. Living in a free country we can speak our mind & try to convince people of our point. That I felt is missing in our neighbourhood. Whatever maybe their compulsions or reasons, poisoning young minds or getting rid of innocent children is never the solution. Their will always be people who go against the system. People who learn more from the outside their school & from experiences & exploration. These people I think are the key to change.

The biggest problem these people face today is returning to their homeland. Malala is the perfect example. She is one of those crazy people whom I am trying to define here. She fought back, she learnt from her experiences & tried to do something about it. The irony is that these people are refused a voice in the country. They are shot dead or driven away from the country. Only when the country realises that giving people the space & freedom to think & act will the country improve, is when a new country shall evolve.

With this I shall like to give a warning to our neighbour also. Not everybody who wants to be heard is worth hearing. Everybody may have an opinion but not every opinion is worth the time we waste on it. India is a very good example. Idiots like the current chief minister of West Bengal are worth only a customary listen. They are people who have no brains & just love the spotlight so shall say anything to be in the spotlight.

Being aware of these idiots & keeping them on tight leashes is as important as opening your minds up to new ideas. I may be a nobody but this is what I feel can make my neighbourhood a better place to live in & help bring about peace & prosperity to the region.

    • You nailed your comment with :

” I ended our discussion with the point that I would love to embrace him the moment he realises the truth & he wished me the same. What I realised out of this is that everyone has their own sense of right & wrong. Living in a free country we can speak our mind & try to convince people of our point. Fundamentalism always operates on instilling the element of fear in people ,to be precise ‘weak minded’ people..religiously vulnerable people and this holds true for every nation. However in Pakistan the bigotry , the extremism has crossed every line. I fail to understand the concept of Jihad . For me it’s like fighting a lost cause. Worst part is harbouring terrorists who have been accused of a dozen crimes. The state must resort to eliminate such forces , instead it protects them. After the recent massacre of school children in Peshawar, the Taliban has issued a warning that the children of politicians will be targeted next. Let’s see how the establishment plans to counter it. I’ve mentioned in my post that unless Pakistan supports India 100% for our fight against terrorism, it’ll neither live in peace itself nor let us live in peace. But that support will happen only when they ‘want’ to fight terrorism and not ‘have’ to fight terrorism under any external pressure. Also people like Bilawal Bhutto, Imran Khan etc. need to be replaced by evolved minds .For that the common man will have to enter politics but i somehow don’t see that coming.

As for what you said on not paying heed to every voice, sure. But the world does not consist of rational minds only. It consists of manics too who will not only pay heed to the voices of their leaders but will also implement them, not realizing that in the end the only suffers of any brutality are common people, never the leaders. This is true for every nation on our planet.

I know that world peace is a distant dream. A lot of us are too prejudiced to rise up and fight the common enemy. We enjoy fighting among ourselves, hence the present condition of the world. But i’m still hopeful that even if we’re not able to live in a world that is perfect, we still can pave a way for living in a world which is much more peaceful , much more reasonable.

  18. A heartwarming blog to read after so much pain and emotional tragedy. Thanks Akriti.
While reading this blog, I started to think what if we didn’t have this concept of Religion, would there be lesser hatred, fight n terrorism. Can’t we just spread love and try to attain oneness with God without going through all these religions? Then extremism and terrorism wouldn’t have popped up in the name of religion. The world would have been a better place to live. We all are literally carrying this heavy burden of religion on our shoulders.
P.S.- God isn’t bounded by any religion, even God doesn’t need a religion to define Himself.

    • Religion is not a bad thing. However the way religion is being interpreted is disastrous. Religion has killed more people than the the two world wars combined. I despise religion . I really do. I’m agnostic … And yes religion was created by man. As kids we were taught in school that every religion is a path to God. Now as an adult when i see people fighting over , “my god is better than yours”, makes me laugh and upset at the same time. Religion has divided the world. Albert Camus once said , ““Do not wait for the last judgment. It comes every day.” Holds true.

If you ever get time, read just the preface of , “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins .

Thanks for your time here 🙂

  20. What a thought provoking and emotions stirring Blog! I am proud of you Akriti to have the courage to give this a voice and actually putting it in words.

I am sure there are lot of people out there that feel the same way but keep waiting for someone else to say something and do something about it.

This Inaction of theirs leads to these sadistic and unforgiving events where innocent children become targets and loose their lives while the gov’t officials look for the Right ways to take care of this or sit and have meaningless conferences!

My prayer for 2015 is that —

We start making a change and stop looking for excuses!

We become the leaders to make this change and stop Waiting to be a follower.

We realize that all it takes is ONE person to make a positive change!

Respect everyone as Humans! Stop labelling them with Religion, colour or Creed!

Worst kind of action is INACTION!

Please be the voice of all those who lost their lives to these senseless crimes!

Instead of Violence use your Voice and see how much More powerful YOUR VOICE IS!

Think twice before you say HAPPY NEW YEAR IN 2015! It will only be happy if we make a change other wise its just another YEAR.

I apologize to those Children who lost their lives I feel We Let them down! 🙁

  21. You know i love all my readers so much . You people have been so insightful & thoughtful 🙂

Loved your comment , the feeling behind it & loved your prayer for 2015 .So heart warming. People have got to endorse it .

“Worst kind of action is INACTION!” Is what you mentioned in your comment , i hope a lot of people get over this in 2015…and yes we owe those children a huge apology. Also to the future generation because we robbed them of the opportunity to live in a safe world.

    Thanks for reading. Peace 🙂

  25. Akriti…I just love your passion!! Thank you for shining a spot light on serious issues…and for speaking your vouce! Yes…one person can make a difference! Much love…happy new year <3

  26. Akriti, hats off to you for this article.

I’m a British-Pakistani Muslim and I agree with what you have said. This whole bad blood between India and Pakistan makes no sense to me. We are the same people. Some of our beliefs might be different but that’s not even relevant.

Why is it that the people in power can not spread the message of peace and only think of honor, pride and power. What happened to love being the most important thing? I don’t want to go into ranting and what not but we cannot let hate win in this world.

It sickens me to see the things that are happening in the world ‘in the name of Islam’. Not in my religion mate. The world is living at a stage where too much shit is happening and there is nothing we can do about it because of hatred is overcoming our love for each other.

I don’t hate anybody because nothing good can ever come out of hatred. I hate the things that are going on in this world and I hate the reasons why they are happening but I refuse to hate anymore.

    • i’m glad you wrote this comment, which is very thoughtful by the way. We had an ugly spout on Twitter before but now after having read your comment , i feel good that you did see finally what my intention is when it comes to hate.

You nailed your comment when you wrote this :
“I don’t hate anybody because nothing good can ever come out of hatred.”

Thanks for reading and for your feedback too.
      Peace 🙂

      • I’m glad you took the time to read my comment. I didn’t mean to cause you any offence with my counter argument on Twitter. I just like to challenge people’s views. I like to see things from both sides of the page and I agree that the punishment is excessive and I don’t think it should be a law.

Having read your blog I wanted to get to know you better and challenge your views to see what you think of opposing views. I hold many opinions about things including some that aren’t my own. I am the type of guy who enjoys friendly and thought provoking debates. I like to think of myself as an open minded guy.

I would like to apologize if I did offend you. It wasn’t my intention. I hope we can put this behind us.

        • I apologize too. I have absolutely no issues for not leaving the misunderstanding behind. Let bygones be bygones , else no point calling ourselves evolved. Both of us making an effort to resolve a misunderstanding makes us speak a lot about our character as individuals.

I am an open minded individual myself that is why i don’t generalize and i don’t discriminate. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong . As for opposing views, yes they’re a must for widening one’s perspective , also helps understand the world better. I appreciate opposing views, my only condition is that they have got to be rational. That’s all. Oppose with rationality and not just coz’ one wants their ego inflated. I respect people with genuinity . I do.

I have to convey to you my regards in the context of your blog. It really is nice. I have to go through it in detail though. Will do it soon.

Best wishes for all your future endeavours. 🙂
